About Scholarship: The University of Luxembourg seeks to hire outstanding researchers within its Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education. As a PhD Candidate in Educational Sciences, you will be situated in the EMACS research unit and conduct educational research with a focus on qualitative approaches. In particular, you will work with a research team on the ASPIN project – “Assessing Science Processes in Narratives: Building knowledge through collaborative assessment”, a collaborative project working with teachers and children around science education in primary schools in Luxembourg. (Co-PIs for this project are Michelle Brendel and Christina Siry.)

Eligibility:
-Excellent Masters degree (or equivalent) in Educational Sciences or a related field,
-Good knowledge of, and interest, in qualitative research methods and educational research,
-Experience working with primary aged students and teachers,
-Willingness to travel internationally for conferences and training opportunities,
-Fluency in German and English required, proficiency in Luxembourgish is a plus,
-Ideally a background in science education,
-Ability to work independently and cooperatively,
-Possession of communication and administrative skills.
Scholarship Open for: The scholarship is open for Luxembourg students.
Role:
-Conduct in-depth literature review to support the project research plan,
-Assist with the organization of data-sets, including video data collection and management, and multi-level data analysis,
-Co-facilitate professional development activities for teacher inquiry groups,
-Engage in self-contained research targeted at receiving a PhD in Educational Sciences (cumulative; i.e. based on peer-reviewed publications),
-Communicate and collaborate with research team, including partner teachers and student assistants,
-Engage in international opportunities for learning and development (i.e., doctoral summer school possibilities),
-Take responsibility for administrative tasks within the project,
-Author, and co-author, international publications (in English-speaking peer reviewed journals and at scientific conferences).
