University of Luxembourg offers research position within the Research Unit INSIDE at the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education (FLSHASE) for a Research Associate in Educational Sciences.
About Scholarship: The research associate will be member of the Research Project “Doing Quality in Commercial Day-Care” (EDUQUA-COM) funded by the University of Luxembourg. The project is assigned to the research sub domain Early Childhood: Education and Care (Head: Prof. Dr. Michael-Sebastian Honig).
The project investigates commercial structures in the Luxembourg field of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) with ethnographic field research methods. The project focuses how the professional actors in commercial day-care settings accomplish ‘good practice’ by picking up the different expectations of stakeholders in the field pertaining to the tasks and attainments of ECEC and how they transform these into represent able characteristics of their everyday care practice.
In addition to interviews with experts in the field, the study will investigate these quality-related practices in several day-care centers and day-care homes with the method of participant observation.

Eligibility:
- Diploma or MA in educational science, sociology, anthropology, cultural studies or equivalent
- Experience in qualitative research, especially ethnography
- Knowledge in the field of Childhood Studies and Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)
- Very good level of German and French (spoken and written), good Luxembourgish and/or Portuguese is highly desirable.
